  5. We try to develop within two business days of arrival. We'll send you an invoice. Once you pay that invoice, your scans will be automatically delivered via email!

Where should we mail your order?

We'll send your scans digitally, but we need your address for mailing back negatives if requested.

How many rolls are you dropping off?

What is this?
Pushing and pulling film means changing film's exposure by changing the amount of time that your film is processed; pushing is more development time, pulling is less, and the values refer to the 'stop' of exposure change.

+1 makes 200 ISO into 400 ISO, -2 makes 800 ISO into 200 ISO, etc. This should only be used if the film that we'll be processing has been intentionally shot for 'push processing'

$2 per push/pull roll

How would you like your digital scans?

Scan size recommendations:

Small - <1mb file size - small but high quality and space saving!
High Res - 1-5mb file size - perfect for Instagram, small prints, etc. - recommended for disposables
Max Res - 12-25mb file size - often used for professional work, larger prints, and archival purposes

How would you like your scans delivered?

You can check out an example of our brand new, custom online gallery for film scans here! Each file and roll can be downloaded individually and they stay in the cloud forever! Turbo's Club members automatically get a single gallery for all of their orders.

Would you like physical 4x6 prints?

Do you want your negatives (processed film) back?

About 25% of people opt to keep their negatives; this is mostly done by people who archive or self-scan all of their film themselves. Having your negatives is not required to get physical prints of your photos! Prints can be made directly from the scanned images you will receive from us.
If you don't have a need to keep your negatives, we'll safely dispose of them for you.

How will you be shipping us your film?

Turbo's Club members get unlimited free shipping labels!

Common questions and help 🐾

Processing & Turnaround

Is my film safe in the dropbox?
Yes! We keep rotating 20lb refrigerated cooling blocks in the bottom of the box, so your film stays cool while inside. We also retrieve film every ~30 minutes on average. The inside of the dropbox never gets hot enough to damage your film.
When will my film be ready?
  • Color film is usually processed same-day when dropped off before 2:00pm
  • Black and white film will be processed in around 14 days depending on volume
  • If your order has both color and black and white, everything will be delivered together in within 14 days
Can my order be rushed?
We currently aren't offering a black and white rush service. We previously charged a $15/roll fee for a same or next-day rush, but the demand was too high to continue. If you have something that really needs to be rushed, just send us an email.
How do I receive my scans?
Immediately after you pay your invoice, your scans will be automatically emailed to you in a zip file or gallery, depending on your selection, which you can download from the provided link.
Does my drop off time affect my turnaround time?
We are "asap" in everything we do, but we do not offer guarantees for any specific amount of time. If you dropped off your color film before 2:00pm, you should expect it that same day. If you drop off after, you should expect it at some point the following day.

4x6 prints are $0.37 per print for Turbo's Club members, $0.46 per print otherwise. This equates to around $14/roll.
Do you offer push and pull processing?
Yes! We offer up to three stops of push and pull processing for both color and black and white film. If you want your film pushed, please mark the canister clearly and notate it on your drop off form.
Do you process E6 or ECN2 film?
We do not expect to ever process E6 (color positive / slide) film. The chemicals are less stable and there is not much demand. We may offer ECN2 (cinema film) processing in the future, but do not right now.
What are your scanning details?
We offer small, high-res, and maximum resolution scans in either JPG or TIFF (+$2 / roll) format.
Scan Size Resolution File Size Price
Small 800 x 1200 px ~0.3-0.7 MB No cost
High Res 2000 x 3200 px ~1-2 MB No cost
Max Res 4400 x 6000 px ~12-20 MB +$3 / roll
Do you offer prints?
We do! We offer 4x6 prints for all rolls developed at our lab. You can select it on your drop off form, or order afterwards in the delivery email you receive. If you want to purchase prints from past rolls, you can do so at prints.atxfilmlab.com. We are only offering prints for whole rolls at this point.
Can I mail you my film?
Absolutely! We have a super simple process which you can follow at ship.atxfilmlab.com
What if something happens to my film during processing?
While very rare, mistakes or equipment malfunctions can happen. About 40 different things have to go right in order for film to be correctly developed. If something goes wrong, we'll be honest with you about it (and feel absolutely horrible), but there is rarely anything that can be done to salvage the film. We of course don't charge you in these cases, but we are unable to accept liability past that point.

Payment

How do I pay?
When your film is ready, we'll send an invoice via Stripe (our payment processor) to the email address you provided. You can pay via Apple Pay, credit or debit card, bank account, or a number of other options.
What happens if one of my rolls was blank or exposed?
It happens to the best of us - no worries! We'll take that roll off your invoice, include a "blank roll" line item on your invoice, and send you an email to let you know.
What is the charity donation on my invoice?
We donate $1 for every roll we develop + scan. Currently, we donate to the Austin Wildlife Rescue. AWR rehabilitates and releases orphaned, injured, and sick wild animals.
